Thank you to all our supporters and volunteers who came to our first Open Day today. The weather had started out dismal, but brightened up late morning and we had a lovely sunny breezy afternoon. No thanks to Network Rail for picking today to close Fen Bank to carry out works on the New Leake level crossing, but thanks to everyone who managed to follow our diversion and get here anyway.
As well as the dogs, we were able to show our recent projects – the new kennel block (the ‘Brindle Block’), disabled entrance, new toilets, access roadway, solar panels and improved signage. The old stable block (‘the Blue Block’) will now become our rehabilitation block.
Our treasurer John is currently counting the donations, but initial indications are that we have raised several hundred pounds for the hounds in our care. On top of this we are excited to say that we have a number of hounds reserved – including potentially one or two long stayers. Watch this space!
Judging by today, the Open Day looks certain to become a fixture in the Fen Bank calendar; thank you again to everyone – whether existing owners or new friends – who came and made it such a success.
