You will be aware that our Alford shop has been closed since the end of March for refurbishment. The work has been progressing well with our volunteers carrying out most of the jobs, but unfortunately it has taken a little longer than anticipated due to unforeseen problems.
So far we have completed painting work inside and outside, had new LED lighting fitted and had a section of the floor replaced due to rot in both the joists and floorboards.
A large amount of stock that was in storage was removed, sorted out and some was taken to our Spilsby shop and some will be used to restock Alford when we open again. Some electrical work had to be carried out to reinstate power points around the building. The display shelves are being painted and a new carpet is being laid at the end of this week (hopefully).
Sadly, as is often the case with these jobs, the more we did the more we found that also needed doing so the hoped for opening date of 1st June has been and gone but we are hopeful that we will be back in action at the beginning of July.
It has been heartening for volunteers doing the work to speak to several locals who were concerned that the shop was closed for ever and we were very pleased to reassure them that we will be back soon.
