Snoopy – (formerly Domino)
|We have to admit to having an agenda when we visited Fen Bank – we wanted a dog that had been waiting for a forever home for some time and was no longer a young pup. Domino ticked all the boxes. After rehoming a ‘sticky’ greyhound before, who was the wrong side of 5 and had lived in kennels all his life, we knew that an older dog who had been in kennels for a while was what we wanted.
After our initial meeting with Domino at Fen Bank we followed up with an afternoon at Skegness. He was such a gentle, easy going boy we could not believe that he had not been homed already. Even the excitement of a bank holiday weekend in Skegness did not faze him – despite being interested in everything going on around him he behaved perfectly and we knew that he was the greyhound for us.
Domino arrived at his new home on the Friday. We gave him his space and let him explore his new surroundings at his own pace. His favourite place is currently the kitchen, not sure if that is because of the food or because it resembles his kennel!, so for now, we have put his beds where he wants to be. Each day he has become more adventurous, exploring more of the house and he is fascinated by his own reflection in the mirrors, TV and glass doors. Domino is enjoying the garden, loving his walks and seems to have settled so well into a home considering all he has ever known is kennel life.
He is such a calm, affectionate dog and perfectly suited to us and our lifestyle and we hope we can make him as happy as he has made us (judging by his little face below I think you already have – Ed).

A quick update to let you know that Domino (Snoopy) has celebrated his first month with us and as you can see from his pictures he is slightly more grey around the mouth than what he was. Hopefully that is nothing to do with us!
We had our first visit to family yesterday and Domino was impeccably behaved. Although, if you look at the pictures of him with other dogs, there were seven when they started the walk – only joking! We were sensible and kept him on a lead and muzzled for some time and although he showed an interest in the other dogs he was not in the least bit aggressive.
Domino continues to settle in well and is now firmly at home in the lounge, although his favourite place is the garden. Every day when we get home from work and most of the weekend he is running around checking for cats and squirrels, on his back wriggling around smiling or continuing to dig his trench! He has yet to master the art of weeding instead preferring to sit in his trench and sunbathe.
We absolutely adore him and so does everyone who meets him.
UPDATE 1 JANUARY 2016
We have just enjoyed our first Christmas with Snoopy (Domino) and will send you some pictures under a separate email. We are not sure if you received our one month update pictures (attached just in case). Since then we have been really busy and have sold our house in Cambridgeshire and relocated closer to Dan’s family in Tonbridge, Kent. Snoopy has taken everything in his stride and has two new dog walkers for when we are at work who absolutely adore him and he continues to socialise with lots of different dogs of all shapes and sizes!
We are pleased to report that Snoopy (frequently known as Snoop, Snoopster, Snooper Dooper and of course Snoop Dog), has lost his yellow leg! It took a while and it involved shampooing and the brief use of Dan’s hair clippers but we now have a beautiful white and black greyhound. He is such a happy boy who loves his walks and food (the latter a little too much!) and is still bouncing and ‘smiling’ whenever you reach for your coat or shoes as it is walkies time. He is currently stretched out on his back at my side fast asleep, snoring contentedly – ahhhh!

UPDATE 3 APRIL 2016
Dear Fenbank
We hope that you are all well and re-homing lots of greyhounds!
We thought we would send a few more pictures of Snoopy (Domino) enjoying his first holiday during the Easter weekend. Typical bank holiday, we had one glorious day and wellies and raincoats for the remainder of the weekend!
We have had Snoopy for 10 months now and can’t imagine life without our beautiful greyhound.
Kind regards

3 JANUARY 2017
Dear FenBank
There are no words other than we are devastated, shocked and numb to tell you that we lost our beloved Snoopy aka Domino yesterday. He was sleeping peacefully yesterday afternoon when he suddenly got up and had a seizure. We rushed him to the Vet and he continued to have seizures and a dangerously high temperature. They thought he had stabilized with anti-seizure meds and valium and sent us home for the night whilst they kept him in for further tests and observation. We had a call an hour later to say that Snoopy had to be sedated as he was seizing again and his temperature was too high again. The Vet said that his prognosis was not good and that there was something wrong in his brain, probably a tumour and even if they could bring him round without seizing he would not have a good quality of life.
So after having our beautiful boy for just over 19 months whilst he was still sedated, we wrapped him in his Snoopy blanket, gave him Big Bird (his favourite toy), and stroked him as we let him go. We loved him very much and are heartbroken.
We have sent you some pictures of our Snoopy at Christmas.
Kind regards
